City Splash Festival celebrates the influence of reggae music, food and culture in South London – September 12, 2021 – Brixton Buzz
Offering four stages, forty artists and a capacity of 8,000, the City Splash Festival will take place at Beckenham Place Park (near Crystal Palace) on September 12, 2021.
Here are all the details of the festival celebrating reggae:
reggae
City Splash’s mission is to celebrate the impact and importance of reggae music on British culture, giving rise to everything from Ska, Rocksteady, Dub, Roots, Dancehall, Lovers Rock to its UK ancestry of UK Reggae, Jungle, Hip Hop, Garage, Grime and Drums and Bass; the influence of Reggae has been constant in the UK for 50 years. Not only did it bring us riddims and lifestyle influence, but it’s a genre that expresses and addresses social issues and their solutions through the messages of music.
Food
We’ll be hosting London’s best Caribbean street vendors in conjunction with the London Jerk Fest; sample favorite delicacies from jerk chicken to vegan ital stew, fried plantains and more. For those of you looking for a more watery lunch, expect an unrivaled selection from rum vendors and locally brewed craft beers, stouts and spirits to add some freshness to the day.
Culture
The influence of reggae on youth culture in London is profound, the genre’s heartbeat and lyrics about love, redemption and natural living profoundly affect fashions, lifestyles, friendships and unite strangers at the International scale. We believe such a musically and socially important genre deserves a prominent place in London’s annual live music calendar and we look forward to bringing it to South London in September.
Site
The festival is located in the beautiful Beckenham Place park near Crystal Palace and is home to ancient woods and grassy hills. With FOUR music stages dedicated to the biggest reggae bands, you can happily stroll between the unique production sites to catch your favorites.
